The Opportunity:
The Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility Genetics Laboratory requires a Senior Research Technician to work on projects providing a genetic analysis service to researchers. The successful candidate will join a team supporting the technical aspects of various clinical research projects. The work involves preparation of sequencing libraries, running the sequencing platforms, providing data reports and answering researcher queries, as well as managing projects through the workflows.
Applicants are expected to have acquired the essential skills, knowledge, experience and abilities required of the post and as outlined in the person specification. You will have obtained a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification and will have work experience in relevant technical and clinical governance roles. Applicants must demonstrate extensive knowledge of a range of genomic analysis techniques. Previous experience and knowledge of DNA and RNA sequencing using Next-Generation analysis platforms is desirable.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
The salary for this post is £34,610 to £39,906 per annum.

Possess in-depth understanding of current genomic techniques and be aware of future industry developments and trends in techniques
Ability to explain techniques and results to all levels of investigator, members of staff and laboratory visitors
Ability to work independently and have project and people management experience
Well-developed interpersonal, communication and IT skills
Must possess good organisational skills
