Your new company
You'll be joining a large, multi‑site organisation with a diverse property portfolio, spanning historic buildings through to modern facilities. The Estates & Facilities team is responsible for maintaining a safe, functional and high‑quality environment across one site. You will be part of an established, supportive and skilled maintenance team operating within a fast‑paced, safety‑critical setting.
Your new role
You will work 37.5 hours per week from Monday-Friday.Pay: £20- £22 p/hr, via Umbrella or PAYE. We do not pay CIS
Contract: Temporary 3-month contract, temp to perm opportunities available.
As a Joiner / Building Maintenance Operative, you will carry out a wide range of carpentry, joinery and building fabric maintenance tasks. Your duties will include:
- Diagnosing and repairing joinery faults, including locking systems and ironmongery
- Manufacturing, assembling and installing joinery components using hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and statutory checks (e.g. fire doors, window restrictors)
- Working from technical drawings and job specifications with minimal supervision
- Supporting multi‑skilled work across building trades when competent
- Using computerised maintenance systems and driving company vehicles when required
- Communicating professionally with staff, visitors and service users
What you'll need to succeed
- A recognised joinery qualification and extensive experience in building maintenance
- Strong fault‑finding skills and the ability to work independently
- Competence in both workshop and site‑based joinery
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Fire Door knowledge is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work across multiple campuses when required
- A valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one
