Summary
Opportunity Overview
The University of Salford’s Library, Careers & Enterprise team is seeking a Project Archivist to catalogue the newly donated Professor Terry Eagleton Archive. This significant collection offers exciting opportunities for teaching, learning, and research. We’re looking for an archivist to catalogue the material and take a pragmatic approach to project delivery. You’ll understand what makes items suitable for digitisation and appreciate its role in widening access and engagement. Proactive with strong communication and relationship-building skills, you’ll explore ways to share archival content for research, education, and public engagement. Newly qualified candidates are warmly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Cataloguing and metadata: arrange and describe the Professor Terry Eagleton Archive using ISAD(G) standards; apply professional judgment for levels of description; input and maintain accurate metadata in Epexio.
- Research and interpretation: conduct research into and around the collection to support accurate cataloguing and description
- Preservation: repackage material using archive-standard methods to ensure long-term preservation and assess conservation needs
- Access and Engagement: Identify material for digitisation and explore opportunities to promote the collection to diverse audiences
- Project Management: develop timelines and provide progress updates
