Job Title: Lunchtime Assistant

Location: Queen Mary’s High School, Walsall

Hours: 6.25 per week, term time only (Monday–Friday, 12:50pm–2:05pm)

Salary: NJC Pay Scale, Grade 2 (SCP 2–4), Actual Salary: £3,547–£3,659 per annum

Responsible to: Assistant Headteacher

Job Purpose:

To provide care and supervision for pupils during the school lunch break, ensuring their welfare and safety as directed by senior staff.

What the school offers its staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise pupils in the canteen and around the school site.
• Manage the dining hall queue according to the rota.
• Patrol school and “out of bounds” areas.
• Monitor and address food/drink spillages and hazards.
• Assist with pupil needs as appropriate.
• Report incidents and accidents.
• Support and implement the school’s Behaviour Policy.

Person Specification (Essential):

• Experience working co-operatively and flexibly.
• Ability to relate to young people with differing needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management.
• Team player, optimistic, enthusiastic, and supportive.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and the school’s ethos and values.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 13th January 2026.
