Summary

Reception Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments Process System Connect online appointment requests Use own judgement and communication skills to ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed Handing completed repeat prescriptions or letters/forms to patient and checking ID to ensure confidentiality is strictly maintained in line with GDPR and practice guidance Be able to cover all reception tasks as necessary Appointments Process and triage appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients via System Connect, telephone and in person. Deal with visits requests Patient Adviser Help to improve access to primary care for patients and reduce pressures upon GPs Provide clear information about the range of services available both inside and outside the practice to give real choice to patients allowing them to consider alternative services that best meet their health and social care needs Provide patients with a first point of contact that directs them to the most appropriate source of help, at the right time, in the right place with the most relevant person/organisation Computer Use practice computer system to book/cancel/amend appointments, check patient information, enter relevant information onto patient records, etc Action tasks sent to reception team This job description is not exhaustive & the post holder must be prepared to negotiate variations in the job description, dependent on responding to changes within the practice, the Primary Care Network & NHS. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties that may reasonably be asked of them from time to time.
