The Role & Responsibilities:
Our Housing Options team provides advice, support and help to families and individuals facing problems with their housing.
The role will provide specialist support, advice, and advocacy to individuals experiencing housing difficulties, specifically in relation to domestic abuse. It will ensure customers receive timely and effective assistance to access relevant services and where appropriate, secure safe accommodation.
This role is being offered on a fixed-term basis to provide dedicated support to the department in implementing and embedding domestic abuse case handling processes.
The position will focus on establishing robust procedures, ensuring compliance with best practices, and upskilling the team to confidently manage cases in line with the Council’s standards.
Who We Are Looking For
Educated to GCSE level at Level 4 or above in 5 subjects, including Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications
Experience of supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse
Ability to manage complex and sensitive cases with empathy and professionalism
Good customer care and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Proficient in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and internet based systems
Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and use own initiative
Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure
Ability to build excellent relationships and working partnerships both in the Council and externally with partner organisations
Ability to work in a team and develop effective and supportive relationships with colleagues
Due to the nature of the role you will have the ability to work flexibly and will require a current full driving licence effective in the UK and use of a motor vehicle for business use, or the ability to get to locations in a timely manner equivalent to motor travel in your own vehicle.
