Summary



An opportunity has become available for staff to join the University’s Research & Innovation Post Award team, in the role of Research Finance Project Co-Ordinator.

Research & Innovation (R&I) provides support, advice and guidance to the University’s research community. It also facilitates interaction between academics, research sponsors, and with business, regional and wider communities. R&I Research Operations aims to deliver sector leading, high quality research management support to enable and facilitate research excellence and innovation.

The post sits within the Post Award team, within Research Operations, part of Research & Innovation. The post holder will be responsible for the financial administration of a portfolio of externally funded research awards and grants, to provide strategic financial advice and management information to Principal Investigators (PIs) in the management of their awards and contracts. This includes the provision of accounting, financial management and financial reporting services and ensuring compliance with funder terms and conditions to support and enable research across the University

The ideal candidate;

Has substantial experience in a relevant role, demonstrating general knowledge of technical, financial, and professional practice
Has knowledge of terms and conditions relating to funding applications or a similar complex environment
Has a high level of numeracy and proven ability to analyse figures and data with ease, using spreadsheets and databases
Has good written and communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels
Is highly organised and has the ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure with conflicting deadlines
Has the ability to be flexible and work using initiative and judgement with minimal supervision

Has HNC/HND (or equivalent qualification) or membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or broad vocational experience in a relevant subject/area.
