Summary
We are really pleased to currently be working with a lovely Secondary school in the Wandsworth area in their search for a School Health and Safety Officer.
This is a full time position, initially beginning on a temporary contract, but with a view to becoming permanent, and the opportunity to work in a prestigious and successful school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular risk assessments across the school to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local and national health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Provide training and guidance to staff and students on health and safety best practices.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of health and safety measures and suggest improvements.
- Investigate accidents or incidents and prepare reports, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Maintain records of safety inspections, audits, and safety-related incidents.
- Liaise with external health and safety agencies, as necessary.
- Coordinate first aid training and ensure first aid kits are fully stocked.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A relevant health and safety qualification ( NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in a health and safety role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk assessment techniques, and accident investigation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
