About this opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to join our Chief Technology Office (CTO - Cloud). This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll influence strategy, guide transformation, and collaborate across the Group to deliver resilient, modern platforms. You'll work with senior stakeholders and engineering teams, balancing technical depth with business outcomes to accelerate change.

The candidate we're seeking will have both hands-on engineering and architectural capabilities, and wish to evolve maintain a balance between them as part of their role within the team in support of our public cloud, private cloud and engineering platforms

Day to day, you will:

  • Define and evolve cloud and platform strategies that align with Group priorities

  • Lead transformation initiatives to deliver secure, scalable platforms across public and private cloud

  • They are accountable for continually influencing, challenging, and supporting the Enabling Platform teams to build and align their strategic roadmaps, alongside acting as the voice of the customer and facing into all the Business Platforms to enable delivery of the business roadmaps, and guiding Cloud (Public & Private) product delivery.

  • Create clear architecture roadmaps and standards, providing governance and technical leadership

  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and technical teams to influence decisions

  • Champion modern engineering practices including microservices, DevOps, and event-driven design

  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement while mentoring colleagues and sharing expertise

What you'll need:

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills to engage senior stakeholders

  • Deep knowledge of architecture principles and modern technologies, with a solid understanding of both traditional on-premise and cloud-native technologies.

  • Proven application-level architecture and engineering experience, focused on Cloud Native solutions with modern development languages. and guiding engineering teams

  • A desire to maintain, balance and deepen your technical and engineering skills alongside your architectural capabilities.

  • Awareness of emerging tech like Gen AI and Quantum, with the ability to assess business impact and architectural implications.

  • A track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement in complex environments

  • Experience in large, regulated organisations (financial services preferred)

Desirable:

  • Shaping enterprise-scale cloud strategies and roadmaps

  • Influencing platform teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes

  • Designing for non-functional requirements and performance at scale

  • Executive-level stakeholder engagement and collaboration
