Summary

Job overview The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAH) is looking to appoint a Locally Employed Doctor SHO (LED) to work within our General Medicine department. Our General Medicine service covers care for a 31 bedded and 17 bedded Medical Ward encompassing General Medical and Geriatrics and also Medical Outliers located on Surgical Wards (50% of which are over the age of 75). This post gives the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to experience General and Geriatric medicine in a busy DGH setting with daily Consultant supervision. This role is particularly ideal as a stepping stone to gain experience prior to applying for training rotations such as ACCS or IMT. You will be expected to take an active role in the department, participating in daily ward and board rounds, implementation of early assessment, diagnostics and clinical management of patients in all our areas. This role is ward based only with no on call commitments (Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00) Full induction from both a corporate and local perspective will be provided. Main duties of the job To co-ordinate high quality person-centred care of the patients on the ward, ensuring that all patients admitted have a diagnosis and treatment plan, and receive a daily medical review. To ensure the appropriate discharge of patients, including providing timely paperwork to the General Practitioner ensuring a continuation of care following discharge. To maintain high standards of professionalism, especially in relation to documentation To arrive on time for duty and be available for work from the arranged start time Comply with Trust policies, including upholding the trusts values and behaviours To actively participate in any appropriate steering or project groups. To build and maintain excellent relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team, working with them and communicating effectively to deliver high quality patient care. To liaise between nurses, other clinicians, patients, relatives and Operational colleagues in order to support safe care.
