Summary
About the role:
To be responsible for the management and operational service delivery of y Gaer, Ystradgynlais and Hay libraries and to develop and deliver a dynamic and progressive service to residents, community groups and visitors. Duties will focus on creating and implementing an excellent customer experience; creatively engaging customers with a range of digital and physical resources in ways that encourage a love of history, culture, reading, knowledge, and lifelong learning.
About you:
Experience of working in a public library
Experience of managing staff and premises
Experience of using ICT and confidence in adapting to changing technologies at work
A qualification in Library & Information Studies at degree or post-graduate level, or CILIP Chartership and relevant library management experience
Possess a full driving license and the ability to travel around Powys. Travel between sites is required.
What you will do:
To be responsible for the management and operational service delivery of y Gaer, Ystradgynlais and Hay libraries.
To be responsible for the adequate staffing and cover of all facilities, including coordinating leave and staffing rotas. To recruit and train new staff.
To be responsible for ensuring that building maintenance requirements are logged and resolved. To be responsible for the security of the buildings, maintaining an up-to-date list of key-holders and ensuring that emergency plans and procedures are in place and understood by all staff. To act as a key holder for buildings as appropriate.
To actively promote the use of cultural facilities at all times, acting as an ambassador for Cultural Services with particular reference to Climate and Environment.
To work with colleagues in the wider Cultural Services team to ensure service delivery is consistent and can react positively to service demand.
