Summary

Are you passionate about sport and student life?
Do you love finding creative ways to bring people together, solve problems, and make things happen?

Can your energy and ideas help students have an incredible university experience?

We’re looking for someone to play a key role in delivering and developing our vibrant intervarsity sports programme, including our BUCS competitions and Lancaster’s legendary Varsity against the University of York — Roses.

You’ll help shape the full picture of intervarsity sport at Lancaster, supporting both BUCS and non-BUCS activity such as cheerleading, dance, and emerging team sports. These programmes engage thousands of students, giving them the chance to pursue their passions, build confidence, and develop new skills.

As part of an energetic and supportive team, you’ll collaborate with staff, students, and partners to design and deliver opportunities that make a real difference to student life. We’re proud of our commitment to inclusion in sport and are especially keen to hear from candidates with experience in growing participation among underrepresented or marginalised groups.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need great organisational skills, an eye for detail, and empathy for the student experience. You’ll understand the higher education sporting landscape and be comfortable balancing practical delivery with long-term development. Most importantly, you’ll bring passion, teamwork, and a genuine desire to see every student feel they belong in sport.

In return, we offer a supportive, flexible, and rewarding working environment where your ideas will shape the future of sport at Lancaster University.

This is a full-time, fixed term role for two years.

As a Students’ Union, we’re proud of our diverse membership and are committed to building a team that reflects it. We warmly welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds — particularly those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities currently underrepresented in our workforce.
