Summary
Job Purpose
The IT Quality and Testing Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of software systems through structured testing strategies and quality assurance practices. The role places particular emphasis on testing business-critical systems, including accounting and financial software, to ensure correctness, compliance, and robustness in line with business and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for software applications and platforms
* Perform manual and automated testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
* Validate software behaviour against business rules, financial calculations, and data integrity requirements
* Identify, log, track, and manage defects using recognised defect-tracking tools
* Collaborate closely with software engineers, product owners, business analysts, and finance stakeholders to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
* Ensure software meets functional, non-functional, performance, security, and compliance requirements
* Review and validate data accuracy, reconciliation logic, reporting outputs, and audit trails where applicable
* Produce and maintain test documentation, including test strategies, execution reports, and quality metrics
* Contribute to or maintain test automation frameworks to improve coverage and efficiency
* Support quality gates within CI/CD pipelines prior to releases
* Perform root-cause analysis of defects and support continuous improvement of quality processes
* Assist with internal or external audit and compliance activities when required
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in software testing or quality assurance roles
* Strong understanding of SDLC, testing methodologies, and quality assurance best practices
* Experience in manual and/or automated testing
* Familiarity with test management and defect-tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, TestRail, Azure DevOps or similar)
* Ability to understand and test against business and technical requirements
* Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
* Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Skills & Industry Experience
* Experience testing accounting, finance, or ERP software systems
* Understanding of accounting concepts, such as:
- General ledger, accounts payable/receivable
- Financial postings and reconciliations
- Period-end processing and reporting
* Experience validating financial calculations, transaction flows, and reporting accuracy
* Familiarity with regulatory, audit, or compliance-driven systems
* Exposure to test automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
* Experience working in Agile / Scrum / DevOps environments
* Experience testing cloud-based or enterprise SaaS platforms
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
* Professional certifications in software testing or quality assurance (e.g. ISTQB) are desirable
