The Governing Body invites applications from suitably qualified, enthusiastic and inspiring Teaching Assistant for the post of Teaching Assistant for the deaf in this thriving, successful school.
The successful candidate will possess:
▪ excellent knowledge of hearing technology including: (i) its benefits, limitations and conditions for effective use, and (ii) how to maintain equipment, check it is functioning and troubleshoot, undertaking basic repairs.
▪ high quality skills using signed supported language - preferably BSL level 1 or above
▪ recent and relevant training appropriate to hearing impaired children in the primary phase
▪ excellent knowledge and understanding of inclusion and a passion and desire to remove barriers to learning for deaf children
▪ Experience of working with pupil(s) with additional learning needs, specifically language and communication difficulties.
▪ Evidence of working with class teachers to set high expectations for all children, including those with ALN
▪ great teamwork skills and flexibility
▪ promote the values, caring ethos and vision of the school
▪ a commitment to working with mainstream staff in order to provide the very best learning opportunities for deaf children

We are looking to appoint an LSA who will support an individual child with their BSL communication, under the direction of the leadership team. The LSA will need to be flexible as it will encompass both planned support and also may involve unplanned work. The role will also involve liaison with the family and other agencies. All work will be under the guidance of the senior leadership team, ALNCO and Teachers of the Deaf. The LSA will understand how to support children with social, emotional and behavioural needs, work on their own initiative to support individuals and groups and be prepared to undertake additional training if required.

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). This vacancy is suitable for post share.
