We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Refuse Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.05 - £16.83 per hour
Summary:
The Refuse Operative will carry out contractual street cleansing and refuse collection duties in accordance with agreed specifications, daily route schedules, and health and safety regulations. The role involves working outdoors, interacting with members of the public, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the Newport area.
Responsibilities:
Complete day-to-day street cleansing tasks in line with contract specifications and daily route schedules
Carry out refuse collection duties as instructed by the Assistant Manager (Refuse & Cleansing) / Supervisors
Comply at all times with Health and Safety regulations, including wearing Council-issued uniforms, protective clothing, and footwear
Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others while at work
Cooperate with managers and supervisors to comply with statutory Health & Safety duties
Report incidents, accidents, hazards, or equipment faults promptly
Essentials:
Knowledge of the Newport City area
Understanding of the demands and requirements of working in a public sector environment
Experience working in refuse collection and/or street cleansing services
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Ability to meet targets and work to deadlines
