Additional salary information: You will also be entitled to a retention payment of £2000 per year (reviewed annually), this is spilt into two payments in December and June. You become eligible for this after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period.

Summary

Working as part of a busy and ambitious team, with Class 2A to 2F general level, the successful candidate will carry out examination and inspection of Building Regulation submissions, plans and site work to ensure building works comply with Building Regulations, including non-domestic projects. You will assist the Building Control Team Manager with operations within the Borough and to undertake inspection/work when required throughout Kirklees and to include consultation and liaison with other sections and departments.

The successful candidate will ensure that Building Control work is carried out in accordance with procedures, timescales and deadlines.

If appointed at surveyor level, you will join the Dangerous Structure Rota to assist in the provision of an out of hours emergency service for which a standby and call out payment is provided.

Within Building Control, we are actively investing in staff development, and this role requires applicants to be qualified to at least Class 2A level.

Due to the current technical make up of the team we are unable at this time to consider anyone who does not have the level of qualification at Grade 10 or above. Please refer to the employee specification on the attached job profile for the requirements to be appointed at Grade 10 and above.
