About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and professional Executive Assistant to provide exceptional support to the Leader and Deputy Leader of Nottingham City Council.

This is a key role at the heart of local government, requiring discretion, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing demands.

Given the profile and visibility of the Leader’s office, you must have an exceptional eye for detail, and the level of responsibility and accountability required is especially high.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for the Leader and Deputy leader, managing communications with internal teams, elected members, and external stakeholders.
  • Managing complex diaries, prioritising meetings, and making decisions independently. Prepare briefing papers, reports, and presentations to support decision-making.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of information between the Leader’s office and senior officers.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters with the utmost integrity.
  • Support strategic projects and monitor progress against key council objectives.
  • Anticipate needs and proactively resolve issues to enable the Leader to focus on strategic priorities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience as an Executive Assistant or in a senior administrative role, ideally within a political or public sector environment.

  • Outstanding organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools.
  • The ability to cope with pressure and meet multiple deadlines
  • Political awareness and understanding of local government operations is desirable.
  • Ability to work outside office hours when required
