St Matthews CofE Primary School is a one form entry school located in West Wimbledon. We are looking for a Caretaker to join our friendly team as our current caretaker is due to retire after 10 years!
This is a part-time role of 25 hours a week during the school term. With 3 weeks to be worked throughout the school holiday. The daily hours are 7:00am to 12:00pm Monday to Friday.
Ideally we are looking for someone who comes from a building or premises background. Maybe you are an experienced trade person looking to wind down but want to keep a steady income, or you are looking for a role that allows you to do other jobs in the afternoon. The key attributes that you must demonstrate are pride in all tasks that you do and a willingness to contribute to all areas of
busy school life.
Whoever is chosen for this role will need to be physically fit and have a common sense approach to all works that need to be completed. You will also need to be flexible to meet the needs of the school, combining planned and regular tasks with the day-to-day running of the school.
The general responsibilities of the job are:
- Oversee the school buildings, grounds and garden, with responsibility for site security and being the main key-holder for emergency contact
- Take pride helping to maintain and develop the school grounds and outdoor learning environment
- Ensure that a high standard of health & safety and cleanliness is maintained across the school
- Have the practical skills and appropriate physical fitness to undertake minor repairs, decorating, maintenance and improvements competently; showing an eye for detail
- Use relevant interpersonal, literacy, numeracy and IT skills to carry out admin, maintain records, order supplies and communicate with colleagues and contractors effectively
- Have a flexible approach to support the school with ad hoc additional weekend and evening work
- Commit to the ethos, goals and values of our school
- Hold a current driving licence
- Ideally have experience in a similar role.
