Summary

To work as a member of theGI dietetic team at St Georges Hospital. To be responsible for providing a highly specialist dietetic service to gastrointestinal surgery patients (upper and lower GI); following evidence-based practice, being anactive multidisciplinary team member, educator, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, participating in audit and research related to GI surgical patients to improve health outcomes and develop the role and service.

Deliver inpatient dietetic care to upper and lower GI surgery patients across designated wards (Gray, Vernon and outliers).

Undertake an outpatient GI clinics, addressing long outpatient waits.

Attend Surgical handover

Attend benign upper GI MDT

Attend IBD MDT

Attend nutrition support ward rounds

Successful candidates will work for a large dietetic department with a wide variety of specialisms and in well-respected MDTs. The dietitians are essential within a GI MDT given the complexity of gut related disorders both surgically and medically.

Specifically within the GI team they will be supported by 2.2 wte B7 dietitians, 1 Band 8 and be responsible for line managing the B6 GI dietitian.

We have supervision structure in place and as a teaching hospital, they will have opportunity for personal and professional development and have the opportunity to work with other experienced dietitians.

You’ll join a well-established, supportive dietetic department working alongside experienced dietitians across a range of specialties. The GI team includes a Band 8, Band 7s, Band 6 GI dietitian and a Band 5 Gastro rotational post. We foster learning and development through peer support and supervision. Our team thrives on MDT collaboration, clinical innovation, and audit involvement. As a teaching hospital, we offer continuous learning, CPD support, and student supervision opportunities.
