Job Description:
Project Delivery Manager
Department: PMO – Transformation
Location: Doxford Park, Sunderland (Hybrid)
Ready to lead projects that make a real difference?
We’re looking for a Project Delivery Manager to join our Transformation team and help shape the future of Gentoo. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver impactful projects, oversee a diverse portfolio, and lead a talented team—all while driving positive change for our customers and communities.
We recognise the importance of a positive work-life balance—our hybrid working model offers the flexibility of both working from our Doxford Park, Sunderland head office and home-based work. To support collaboration and innovation, you’ll be required to work from the office for part of the working week and be flexible to attend on-site meetings as needed. We are unable to support remote working.
We support a great work-life balance with our standard 36-hour working week, Monday to Friday. Plus, enjoy an early finish at 12:30 pm every Friday—giving you more time for the things that matter to you. We are also proud to be certified as a “Great Place To Work”.
What you’ll be doing
As a Project Delivery Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered successfully, aligned with our strategic goals, and supported by strong governance. Your responsibilities will include:
Project Delivery
Plan, manage, and deliver projects on time, within scope and budget.
Create and maintain key documentation—business cases, plans, RAID logs, and reports.
Engage stakeholders and keep communication clear throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
Portfolio Management
Oversee the organisation’s project portfolio, ensuring priorities align with strategic objectives.
Track performance and provide insightful reporting to senior leadership.
Identify interdependencies and manage impacts across projects.
Commissioning
Lead commissioning activities for new services, systems, or solutions.
Manage requirements gathering, procurement, and vendor engagement.
Validate deliverables against agreed specifications and quality standards.
Line Management
Support and develop project managers and coordinators within the PMO.
Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, and development planning.
Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Governance & Assurance
Uphold PMO governance standards and methodologies.
Facilitate stage-gate reviews and ensure accurate reporting to governance boards.
What you’ll bring:
Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in project management or related discipline.
Proven experience delivering large-scale projects within a structured PMO environment.
Strong portfolio oversight and reporting experience.
Advanced knowledge of governance frameworks and commissioning processes.
Previous line management experience with a focus on team development.
Skills & Attributes
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Proficient in project management tools and methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile).
Strategic thinker with strong planning and organisational skills.
Resilient, adaptable, and collaborative in a fast-paced environment.
Committed to continuous improvement and professional growth.
Desirable
Professional certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, MSP, PMP) is desirable.
Experience in housing or similar regulated environments.
Familiarity with commissioning housing-related services and systems.
Ability to balance commercial objectives with social value outcomes.
Strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in service delivery.
Knowledge of housing sector regulations and compliance standards.
