Summary

This role sits within the Capability & Spaces business area, part of the Chief Operating Office for the DWP Digital & Transformation (DTG) directorate, focusing on enabling our Strategic Resourcing Strategy. The team is central to supporting the attraction, development, and retention of highly skilled people, building an inclusive and supportive culture through professional communities and great in-hub working environments, enabling everyone to succeed.

There are two key elements of this role - leading the team responsible for the recruitment of contingent labour for Government Digital and Data (GDD) roles, enabling our strategic resourcing model and secondly, supporting the operational contract management of the Public Sector Resourcing (PSR) contract for the department.

  • Ensuring we meet the demands to fill capability and capacity gaps to safeguard delivery through the recruitment of 3rd party resources working with suppliers and wider stakeholders.
  • Ensuring DTG recruitment, use of 3rd party resources is compliant with relevant governance frameworks.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with all levels of stakeholders to drive decision-making and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Deliver the governance framework for the use of 3rd party resources for DTG and the secretariat for a senior governance board.
  • Act as a point of escalation for issues, working with stakeholders and drawing on data to develop end present options to resolve to senior audiences.
  • Supporting operational contract management activities for departmental strategic contract, working closely with Commercial colleagues and users of the contract from across the department. Providing support and act as a subject matter expert to ensure suppliers are meeting operational expectations.
  • Lead on the implementation of new service offers in line with the supplier contract, leading your team stakeholders and customers to develop new processes and supporting products to ensure these opportunities are available to meet DTG’s demands whilst ensuring alignment to departmental governance and policies.

We’re looking for someone to help stabilize the team and maintain excellent service for our customers, while ensuring compliance with departmental governance frameworks.

This role sits within the 3rd Party Recruitment and Resource Governance Team and is one of four SEOs.

You’ll lead a team delivering a high-quality managed service for DTG, recruiting contingent labour to fill capability and capacity gaps.

Working closely with stakeholders across DTG, DWP, and the wider Civil Service, you’ll make sure all third-party recruitment activity complies with departmental and government policies.

As the escalation point for issues, you’ll use data and stakeholder input to develop and present solutions to senior audiences.

You’ll also support operational contract management for departmental strategic contract, collaborating with Commercial colleagues and contract users, and act as a subject matter expert to ensure suppliers meet operational expectations.

You’ll have line management responsibility for several staff and will need to combine creative thinking, problem-solving, and excellent stakeholder engagement to deliver high standards across all service lines.

You’ll influence and understand our People Plan, ensuring your team enables its delivery. Working with Commercial and suppliers, you’ll identify cost-effective, robust, and dynamic solutions to meet changing demands. You’ll also develop and present options to senior managers, up to Director level, to inform decision-making.
