Salary: £13.74 per hour

Contract: Permanent

Hours/ Working pattern: Part-time, 30 hours per week

What it's like to work here
This impressive stately home is a masterpiece of Elizabethan renaissance architecture and design. The property boasts beautiful gardens, a varied outdoor programme and a long gallery within the house. The house is currently ground floor access only due to a major conservation project on the staircases. The Courtyard Café serves delicious seasonal produce.


You’ll be reporting to the Operations Manager, working in a team at Montacute House part of the South Somerset Portfolio. There will be some cross portfolio working. You will be assisting the Facilities Manager for the South Somerset portfolio on a regular basis and support all departments onsite, so our visitors have a great experience when visiting.

Montacute house is located in the centre of the picturesque Montacute village. This beautiful Elizabethan Ham stone manor house is surrounded by formal gardens, lawns, orchards, parkland and overlooked by the ancient St Micheal's hill all of which having been in the care of the National Trust since the early 1930's.

Having featured in many feature films as well as TV programs and famous for its beauty Montacute House attracts over 150,000 visitors per year (the largest in the portfolio) and is open 363 days per year.

Starting in late 2025 the house is seeing a major project in repairing and strengthening both staircases. This project is exciting as it will open the house up to be accessed on all levels yet again.

What you'll be doing
The National Trust is a busy organisation that has a lot going on at all times - you can guarantee that no day is the same, so you’ll have to love variety. As Facilities & Support Services Co-ordinator you’ll be supporting day to day operations and offer your advice beyond your team. You’ll always champion best practice and will be confident challenging the norm when you think there’s a better way of doing something. You’ll be responsible for supporting the delivery of an efficient, effective, and flexible facilities service, to enable the successful operation of the property. You’ll support the team to meet its objectives by ensuring high standards are always delivered and maintained whilst following procedures and conservation guidelines. You will be responsible for the administration of the regular building tasks and compliance work, co-ordinating contractors and facilitating access, and making sure the overall presentation of the property is always at its best

Who we're looking for

• You should have worked in a customer-facing or operational support role, ideally within a visitor attraction or property management setting.

• Understanding safety legislation and being able to carry out risk assessments is essential for maintaining a safe environment.

• You’ll need to be confident using Microsoft Office and digital platforms to manage records, communications, and marketing tasks.

• The role involves working closely with colleagues and volunteers, so being a collaborative team player is key.

• You must be adaptable and committed to delivering high standards of service across public areas and facilities.

Additional criteria for all other applicants. We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

Experience in a facilities or business support role in a customer service environment. NVQ level 2 qualification, IWFM Associate Level 3 certificate or equivalent.
Flexible, customer focussed approach with understanding of good customer service standards.
Numerate with basic financial skills.
Knowledge of health and safety, fire and security procedures and legislation, emergency procedures, diversity and equality procedures.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and work in collaboration with other departments.
Advanced IT Skills (Microsoft office). Experience of records management and information systems. Experience in using computerised asset management system
