Summary

Our client, a leading provider of residential care for children in Reading, Berkshire, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Residential Children Home Manager to join their dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Residential Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the home, while providing exceptional care and support to the children in our client's care. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary of £40,000 per annum.

As the Deputy Residential Children Home Manager, you will work closely with the Residential Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the home. This includes managing a team of care staff, ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained, and that all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are adhered to. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing individualised care plans for each child, working collaboratively with social workers, healthcare professionals, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the children's needs are met.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a proven track record of working in a residential care setting, preferably with children. You should have excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. You should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, their families, and other professionals.

- Conducting regular supervision and appraisal sessions with staff
- Managing the home's budget and resources effectively
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Participating in on-call duties as required

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a residential care setting, preferably with children
- A relevant professional qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- A thorough understanding of the relevant legislation and regulations governing residential care for children
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- The ability to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities
- A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
