Summary
Outreach Tutor (GCSE Maths and/or English)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is seeking qualified Outreach Tutors to deliver bespoke education packages on a 1:1 basis to young people who are currently not attending school in the Barking & Dagenham and Havering areas.
As an Outreach Tutor, you will design and deliver tailored lessons to bridge gaps in learning and boost engagement and attainment in GCSE Maths and/or English. This role is ideal for experienced teachers who want to move away from the traditional classroom setting and provide more personalised, impactful lessons.
Many of the pupils you will work with may have been out of education for some time, and some may have SEN or SEMH needs, so patience and creativity are key. Your role will be to re-engage learners, build confidence, and help them achieve their academic goals.
Prospero Teaching will support you throughout the process, monitoring progress and ensuring effective learning outcomes.
CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
- Location - Various locations across Barking & Dagenham and Havering
- Position - Outreach Tutor
- Type of work - Contract
- Start date - ASAP
- Duration - Dependent on each student
- Contract type - Temporary
- Full time/part time - Flexible (part-time and full-time available)
- Minimum rate of pay - £25 per hour
- Hours - Minimum 1 hour per session, up to 3 hours per session
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent
- Experience teaching GCSE Maths and/or English
- SEN and SEMH experience highly desirable
- Minimum 6 months experience working in a UK school
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for one
- Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years
