Summary
We are recruiting for a Mental Health Classroom Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN provision in Thatcham, supporting children and young people across KS1-KS4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about mental health and education, who wants to make a positive and lasting difference in students' lives.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and emotional regulation within the classroom
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to help students engage with learning
- Assisting in creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and wellbeing initiatives
- Working closely with teachers, support staff, and mental health professionals
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, mental health challenges, or behavioural needs
- Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Genuine interest in supporting students' emotional wellbeing and academic progress
