At Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, you'll join a friendly, experienced Physiotherapy team supporting adults with complex cognitive and physical needs following acquired or traumatic brain injury. Our service includes a Level 1 Cognitive-Behavioural ward (21 beds) and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward (18 beds)giving you exposure to a wide range of specialist interventions.

The Role:

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. This may include one weekend day with a corresponding mid-week day off. The working pattern will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

  • To work with a delegated caseload of patients autonomously and to provide high quality service to patients by assisting with therapy, exercises, and mobility routines as directed by the Physiotherapist.
  • To assist in the preparation and delivery of group sessions.
  • To plan, provide and evaluate therapeutic activities for groups and individual patients, working within a framework of guidance developed with a qualified Physiotherapist.
  • Monitor patients' treatment and report back to qualified clinicians on the patient's progression.
  • To carry out any departmental housekeeping tasks, including maintaining stock and advising on resources necessary to carry out the job, taking a lead role in ensuring orders are processed as appropriate.
  • To contribute to the ongoing improvement of the therapy service via training, data collection and meetings. This may include being involved in an audit programme.
  • To perform general routine duties in activities areas to ensure efficient daily running of a healthy and safe environment.
  • With attention to detail, ensure that therapy areas and equipment are well maintained, clean and ready for sessions ensuring the safety of the people being cared for.
  • Update the electronic patient record system and take appropriate notes under the Physiotherapists' guidance.
  • Assist Physiotherapists during treatments and assessments including demonstrating, helping patients and raising concerns where they arise.
  • Maintain their own training compliance with and ensure they are up to date with regulatory standards.
  • Adherence to all Group policies and procedures and ensuring that all colleagues in the service are aware of and understand company policies.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of all ACG Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and ensure that all processes are adhered to and regularly monitored to ensure compliance.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in neuro-physiotherapy is preferred.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or relevant physiotherapy qualification.
  • Compassion, patience, and a caring attitude towards patients.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, privacy, and dignity for patients
  • The ability to empathise with and motivate others.
  • Computer literacy use of internet, email and Microsoft Word, Excel etc
  • Good organisational skills
