We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Pharmacy Technician – Medicines Efficiency to join our forward-thinking pharmacy team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving the Medicines Efficiency Programme across the Trust.
You’ll lead a small team, manage cost-saving initiatives, and ensure governance compliance while working closely with pharmacists, clinicians, finance, and procurement teams.
Your expertise will help shape medicines optimisation strategies and deliver measurable improvements for patients.

• Lead and coordinate medicines efficiency projects, including medicines switches and homecare optimisation.
• Line manage and develop the medicines efficiency team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
• Analyse prescribing and financial data to identify opportunities for cost savings and report progress to senior leadership.
• Oversee homecare processes, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and national guidance.
• Provide technical expertise and support to pharmacy and clinical teams.
• Deliver training sessions and support staff development across the pharmacy team.
• Contribute to audits, KPI reporting, and governance reviews.
• Maintain ACPT accreditation and support dispensary workflow when required.
What We’re Looking For
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Pharmacy Services.
• Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).
• Significant experience in hospital pharmacy, including dispensary and medicines management.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Strong IT skills and knowledge of governance and audit processes.
Experience in homecare systems, project management, or medicines optimisation is desirable.

As the Lead Pharmacy Technician – Medicines Efficiency, you will have a Trust-wide remit to lead and coordinate the Medicines Efficiency Programme, ensuring delivery of cost-saving initiatives, governance compliance, and operational efficiency.

• Lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of medicines efficiency initiatives such as medicines switches and homecare optimisation.

• Provide strategic oversight of homecare processes related to medicines efficiency, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and national guidance.
• Resolve complex queries and monitor KPIs.
• Ensure adherence to Trust policies, participate in audits, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with GDPR and information governance standards.
• Provide expert technical advice to pharmacy and clinical teams. Maintain ACPT accreditation and support dispensary workflow when required.
• Deliver training sessions on medicines efficiency processes, support induction and competency assessments, and identify training needs within the team.
• Participate in late duty, weekend, and bank holiday rotas and work across Trust sites as required.
