Job Title: Admin Officer (Part-Time)
Location: Neville House, Central Riverside, Bell Street, North Shields, Tyne and Wear, NE30 1LJ
Pay: £13.54 per hour (weekly pay)
Hours: 18 hours per week (3 × 6-hour shifts)
Contract: Start as soon as possible until 31/03/2025, with the possibility of extension
Working Pattern: Office-based. Working days to be agreed with the successful candidate.

About the Role:

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is seeking a part-time Admin Officer to provide efficient and reliable administrative support within our North Shields office. This temporary role, via Brook Street, is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, confident in communication, and able to work in a busy operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering telephone queries across multiple call queues, taking messages accurately, and ensuring they are passed to the appropriate colleague.
  • Logging all calls on the internal contact log system.
  • Providing general administrative support, including recording and processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Monitoring and managing up to four shared mailboxes.
  • Collating and accurately entering fishing activity data into internal systems.
  • Checking electronic and catch-recording data for accuracy.
  • Proactively chasing missing or late paper and electronic fishing logbooks.
  • Assisting colleagues by contacting industry representatives regarding missing sales and landing information.
  • Dealing with any personal callers to the office.
  • Supporting general office filing and administrative duties.
  • Attending weekly team meetings.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong communication and telephone skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous administrative experience is desirable but not essential
