An exciting opportunity has become available to work within the Handyperson team in the Strategic Housing service, to fit minor adaptations in people's homes to keep them safe and independent at home. The position is for 1.0 FTE (37 hours) per week, Monday to Friday.

About you

Handypersons play a critical role in ensuring older and disabled people can live safely and independently at home, preventing falls and enabling them to come home from hospital. The role is to fit minor adaptations such as grab rails, handrails, key safes, step alterations etc. For more information on this role please view the attached job description specification document.

To be successful in this role, you will bring your practical experience in a multi-skilled handyperson type role, a sound knowledge of construction techniques relevant to the role, and excellent customer service skills as you will be working with vulnerable people. You will need good ICT skills to be able to use our job management system.

You will work as part of a team of 6 Handypersons, 2 Admin Assistants and a Team Leader, as well as colleagues in the wider Housing service who deliver adaptations, domestic retrofit, hoarding support, affordable housing and housing options.

You will be provided with a vehicle and tools to carry out this role, together with the appropriate ICT equipment, and the training needed to carry out your role effectively. Your office base will be one of our cemetery offices in Macclesfield or Crewe, depending on your nearest location.

You will be asked to provide a satisfactory basic DBS check as part of the pre-employment checks.
