Summary

This is a Maternity cover post until January 2027 working full-time.

The Clinical Skills technical team is seeking to recruit an organised and motivated person with excellent customer service skills to support teaching and examination setups for a variety of healthcare programs in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science.

The Agile Teaching Technician (Clinical) is responsible for preparing for and setting up classrooms with appropriate clinical equipment and consumables, ensuring academic colleagues are equipped to deliver high quality teaching. Responsibilities also include ordering stock, managing storerooms, carrying out routine and reactive maintenance to equipment, and working collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues.

A background in a Higher Education, clinical, or simulation environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. We are seeking someone with proven interpersonal skills, good manual dexterity for moving equipment between rooms and buildings, and the drive to learn and develop skills in a diverse and dynamic role. Swansea University offers a range of courses for your professional development in addition to role-specific training opportunities.

It is desired that the candidate will occasionally work in the Anatomy facility within the Medical School, working with human tissue specimens under supervision and in accordance with the Human Tissue Act 2004, including pathology slides, prosected limbs, and whole cadavers. Whilst the post is predominantly based onsite at Singleton campus, there is the requirement to occasionally assist in delivering technical support at our campus in St. David’s Park, Carmarthen. The ability to drive the departmental van is therefore desirable. The team’s core hours are 8am to 4pm but there’s an expectation to work flexibly to support teaching where required. Enquiries around flexible working are welcome.

Due to the nature of the role, an informal visit prior to interview is highly recommended. Enquiries very welcome to Katarina Kusz, please email k.e.kusz@swansea.ac.uk.
