Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly capable and tenant-focused Multi-Skilled Carpenter to be part of our dedicated repairs division. This vital position involves providing high-quality, prompt maintenance and repair services to residents within our social housing properties across Winchester and the local vicinity.
This presents an outstanding 12-week temporary to permanent career pathway for an experienced professional seeking long-term employment and job security within a community-focused housing provider.
Key Responsibilities:
Core Reactive Maintenance & Carpentry Specialist-
Undertake and ensure successful completion of all assigned daily and urgent reactive repair tasks within occupied homes and vacant properties (voids).

Accurately diagnose defects on the initial visit, prioritising efficiency to achieve a "First Time Fix" outcome whenever feasible.

Proficiency in all facets of carpentry and joinery, including but not limited to:

Fitting, adjusting, and repairing all types of doors (internal and external), frames, locks, furniture, and associated ironmongery.

Replacement and installation of skirting boards, architraves, kitchen units, and work surfaces.

Execution of minor roof repairs and making structurally safe any damaged woodwork following emergency situations.

Capably perform necessary minor repairs and maintenance across secondary trades:

Basic Plumbing: Resolving leaks, replacing taps, minor repairs to toilets/cisterns, and clearing simple waste system blockages.

Patch Plastering & Tiling: Carrying out localised repairs to damaged plaster and minor tiling work in kitchens and bathrooms.

Decorating: Performing small-scale 'making good' and redecorating following other repair work.

General Fabric Repairs: Renewing sealant around baths/showers, basic exterior brickwork pointing, and fence panel repairs.

Manage and process daily work orders effectively using a handheld device/PDA, ensuring precise logging of job details, materials consumed, and completion reports.

Ensure optimal levels of van stock are maintained to facilitate immediate completion of standard repairs.

Deliver exceptional customer service to residents, clearly communicating the scope of work and striving to minimise disturbance during visits.

Strictly follow all mandatory Health & Safety procedures and protocols.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential Skills & Qualifications-
A recognised industry qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) in Carpentry/Joinery is mandatory.

Extensive, demonstrable experience operating as a Multi-Trade Technician in a fast-paced reactive repairs setting (preferably social housing or domestic maintenance).

Proven competence as a primary trade Carpenter coupled with solid working knowledge of various secondary trades (Plumbing, Plastering, Tiling).

Possession of a full, current UK Driving Licence is required (a company vehicle will be supplied).

Strong capability for working autonomously, managing workload efficiently, and taking full responsibility for assignments.
