Summary
Registered Children’s Nurse (RNC / RSCN) or equivalent qualification, with valid NMC registration. Experience working with children and young people in an acute hospital or community setting. Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to recognise and escalate deterioration promptly. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support, reassure, and engage children and families effectively. Ability to work confidently as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to safe and coordinated care. Commitment to maintaining high standards of safeguarding, infection control, and patient safety. Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload and respond flexibly to changing priorities. Willingness to develop new skills relevant to the allocated area, including enhanced competencies for those rotating into Level 2 HDU. A compassionate, calm, and resilient approach, particularly when supporting children and families during stressful or emotionally challenging situations. Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development, reflective practice, and participating in training and quality improvement initiatives.
