Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Communicate effectively with patients, carers, visitors and team - Demonstrate compassion, empathy and respect - Ensure all patient related information is treated sensitively and adhere to the principles of confidentiality - Document clearly in the patients pathway and notes as required - Work as part of a team in a busy and ever-changing environment Organisational Skills - Time management skills - Organisational skills required - Prioritising of workload Personal Qualities - Team player - Able to cope under pressure - Proactive/takes own initiative - Able to work independently - Ability to inform Nurse in Charge of any potential situations regarding patient care Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Aptitude Required - HCSW with experience in health care setting - Evidence of ongoing competency - Ability to communicate effectively - Assess patients; within clearly defined parameters by measuring, recording and informing Registered Nurses of any relevant findings - Assist in the admission and discharge of patients, ensuring they are safe to discharge Physical Skills - Ability to competently perform cannulation/venepuncture - Standard/advanced keyboard skills - Use of tools/equipment - Manual dexterity IT Proficiency - Level of knowledge of specific IT systems required (such as Trak care, Microsoft Word, ESR and EPR) Dimensions - To work as a member of the team and contribute to the effective running of the clinical area - To contribute to achieving our service delivery standards - To work a shift pattern this is determined by service requirement, but also conforms to the European Working Time Directive - No budgetary responsibility - To contribute to the continued improvement of our services Physical, Mental and Emotional effort and working conditions - The unit is busy and very spaced out, so the work can be tiring - Computers are used on the unit frequently Key Result Areas - Carry out tasks as delegated by the Registered Nurses, working strictly within the competencies as stipulated by the Trust; including: - Cannulation - Venepuncture - ECG recording - Carry out blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations and escalating concerns to Registered Nurses
