Our busy nature reserve is looking for a part-time cleaner to join our friendly team to help deliver a high standard of cleaning and presentation. Main duties include thorough cleaning of the office portacabin, shop/visitor centre, workshop break-area and toilet block, to provide a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, staff and volunteers. You will need to be self-motivated, efficient and great at cleaning with an eye for detail.This permanent role is for a total of six hours per week over four days and will include weekends.This role will be based at RSPB Lochwinnoch nature reserve, PA12 4JF. Our buildings consist of a Visitor Centre unit (which includes a shop), a separate toilet block, office portacabin and workshop, with a break facility. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the Visitor Centre toilets, break-room (workshop) and office. Working to a regular cleaning schedule, you will ensure all spaces are hygienic, well presented, and meet high standards so that visitors, staff, and volunteers can enjoy a professional and comfortable setting.The role also involves following manual handling and safety procedures to minimise risks and maintain a safe working environment for everyone on-site.A key part of the position is supporting the organisation’s environmental and sustainability goals. This includes carrying out recycling and waste-disposal tasks correctly, using only eco-friendly cleaning products in line with RSPB’s Environmental Management System, and contributing to the monitoring of waste and recycling data for Green Action Plans and accreditation processes. You will also work with staff and volunteers to reduce waste wherever possible, helping to lower the site’s carbon footprint and support long-term cost savings.Essential skills, knowledge and experience:Experience of cleaning professionally.English Language GCSE or equivalent qualification, demonstrating an ability to read and write English.Knowledge of the use of cleaning products (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)) to ensure products are used in a safe and appropriate manner.Understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace and manual handling.Time management skills.Ability to engage positively and communicate effectively with office and site staff.Experience of working in a busy commercial environment.Managing and safely transporting cleaning products around the office/site.
