Working for Mitie, in partnership on the Essex County Council contract, we're looking for someone organised, proactive, and ready to grow into a compliance-focused role. This position is ideal for candidates with existing admin experience, but we're equally happy to consider entry-level applicants who are keen to learn.
This Compliance Administrator role sits within Mitie's partnership on the Essex County Council contract and is based at County Hall in Chelmsford. You'll support the compliance function by coordinating planned maintenance with subcontractors, managing paperwork such as work sheets and risk/method statements, and keeping records accurate and up to date. The position involves everyday admin tasks like handling calls, responding to emails, and using tools like Excel, and it's a great fit for someone organised, curious, and ready to spot improvements. Full training is provided, so whether you have existing admin experience or are looking for an entry-level opportunity, this role offers a solid foundation to grow in a compliance-focused environment. What you'll be doing
You will support the compliance team by ensuring all processes run smoothly and meet required standards. In this role, you will coordinate planned maintenance tasks with subcontractors, review and process work sheets for accuracy and completion, and check and log Risk Assessments and Method Statements. You will also be responsible for updating compliance trackers and internal systems, monitoring deadlines to make sure statutory and contractual requirements are met, and providing general administrative support to the wider team. Additionally, you will handle incoming calls through the telephony system, respond to email enquiries, and use Excel and other data tools to manage records and produce basic reports. Strong organisational skills are essential, as you will also plan and book contractors for scheduled work to ensure everything runs efficiently. What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who brings a fresh perspective and can identify gaps or suggest improvements. The ideal candidate will be keen, reliable, and eager to learn the compliance aspects of the role, while being comfortable handling a range of administrative duties such as emails, phone calls, and data entry. Confidence in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is important. While previous admin experience is preferred, we are fully open to entry-level applicants, as full on-site training will be provided. What we offer
We offer comprehensive on-the-job training and ongoing support, along with a friendly team environment based at County Hall. This role provides the opportunity to build strong compliance and facilities-management experience, with access to a range of development opportunities. These include relevant training courses such as IOSH, as well as other government-funded programmes for those who wish to further develop their compliance knowledge.
If you're looking for a stable, hands-on admin role with plenty of room to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
