Educato Limited are recruiting an experienced and committed Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to join a nurturing and forward-thinking primary school in Rochdale, working within their specialised Hearing Impaired Unit. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified therapist who is passionate about supporting deaf and hearing-impaired pupils to develop their communication skills and access the curriculum.
As the school's dedicated SaLT for three days per week, you will work closely with the SENCO, Teachers of the Deaf, class teachers, and support staff to deliver high-quality speech, language, and communication interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
Your role will include:
• Providing assessment, diagnosis, and therapy for children with hearing impairments and associated communication needs
• Delivering 1:1 and small-group intervention sessions
• Creating individualised therapy plans and targets based on pupil assessments
• Working collaboratively with Teachers of the Deaf and classroom staff to embed communication strategies into daily teaching
• Supporting pupils in developing speech production, receptive and expressive language, and alternative communication methods where appropriate
• Offering guidance and training to staff on effective communication support strategies
• Maintaining accurate records, reports, and progress documentation
• Communicating effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals
The ideal candidate will:
• Hold a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification (HCPC registration required)
• Have experience working with children in school settings, ideally with hearing impairments
• Be knowledgeable about auditory training, BSL/Makaton (desirable), and communication strategies for deaf learners
• Be confident in conducting assessments and developing clear, targeted therapy plans
• Be patient, adaptable, and able to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
Desirable (but not essential):
• Experience working within a Hearing Impaired Unit or specialist provision
• BSL Level 1 or above
• Experience supporting pupils using hearing aids, cochlear implants, or alternative communication systems
• Experience delivering targeted interventions for speech sound disorders, language delay, or social communication needs
What Educato Limited Offers:
- Free access to CPD and safeguarding training
- Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant
- Weekly pay and long-term opportunities in SEN education
Safeguarding Statement:
This position is subject to a Child Enhanced DBS, satisfactory references, and full compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024) and safer recruitment practices. Overseas police checks may be required for candidates with time spent abroad. Educato Limited is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable young people. We act as an employment business in relation to this vacancy.
