Summary

Are you an enthusiastic team player with a passion for food and great service? We are looking for a Catering Assistant to help us deliver nutritious, high-quality meals that fuel our students and staff for the day ahead.
About WPT
At Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT), we are fueled by a single commitment: 'We never knowingly do less for other people’s children than we would for our own.' As a thriving network of schools across South Yorkshire, we combine high expectations with embedded inclusivity. We do not work in silos; instead, we rely on deep collaboration and school-to-school support to ensure every student develops socially, emotionally, and academically to achieve the highest standards.
About the Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will be an essential part of the Central Services team, based within one of our school kitchens. Your role is varied and fast-paced, ranging from preparing and cooking hot and cold food to serving students with a smile. You will work to high standards, following specific recipes and ensuring that the kitchen remains spotless and compliant with safety regulations. Whether it’s the daily lunch rush or a special theme day, your positive, "can-do" attitude will help ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for everyone.
Responsibilities
Food Production & Service: Prepare, cook (using methods such as grilling and frying), and serve a variety of hot and cold menu items—including for special events—ensuring consistency with Trust recipes and standards.
Hygiene & Safety: Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness in line with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations, completing all necessary cleaning schedules, safety checks, and documentation to pass audits.
Customer Experience: Provide a friendly, positive service to pupils, staff, and visitors, ensuring dietary requests are facilitated, and the service environment is welcoming.
Operational Support: Assist with stock control, inventory checks, and delivery monitoring to minimise waste, while strictly adhering to kitchen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
