Summary
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Assist in the preparation of meals under the direction of the Chef/Cook.
2.Support with basic food preparation tasks (e.g., chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients).
3.Serve meals to residents in a polite and friendly manner.
4.Ensure kitchen, dining areas, equipment, and utensils are kept clean and sanitised at all times.
Requirements:
1.Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Catering Assistant, or similar role (preferred but not essential).
2.Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety procedures.
3.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
4.Strong communication and teamwork skills.
5.Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
6.Willingness to complete mandatory training (including Food Hygiene Level 2).
Desirable Qualifications:
1.Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2)
2.Experience working in a care home or healthcare setting.
Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment according to hygiene standards.
Assist with the safe storage of food items and monitor stock levels when required.
Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations (including HACCP guidelines).
Dispose of waste correctly and maintain an organised work environment.
Work collaboratively with the care home team to meet residents’ dietary needs.
Report any kitchen or equipment issues to the Chef Manager.
