What skills and experience we're looking for
The school is seeking a well-qualified, committed and passionate, Teacher of Mathematics in this school for 11 –16 year olds in South London. You will need to be committed to supporting young people to rebuild their self-esteem and resilience, through leading an inspiring curriculum that provides opportunities to gain AQA GCSE and Functional Skills, Maths qualifications.
The Maths Teacher will be able to teach high quality and engaging lessons to small groups of pupils across both sites of Francis Barber in Tooting and Wandsworth Town. They will be part of a team committed to raising the achievement of all our pupils and helping the Year 11 students to gain good results in the GCSE and Functional Skills exams. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of how to help pupils raise their basic Numeracy skills and in conjunction with the SLT team be able to plan appropriate individualised programmes for additional support. Francis Barber Pupil Referral Unit has a vacancy for a Teacher of Mathematics to fulfil this role. This role will suit an experienced Secondary or Primary Mathematics Teacher who is looking for an exciting opportunity to teach a core subject in this Outstanding Alternative Provision.
At Francis Barber, the Maths curriculum is tailored to meeting specific learning needs. In Year 11 pupils are stretched and challenged, through a bespoke curriculum, to achieve excellent outcomes in GCSE and Functional skills Level 1 and 2 exams. At Francis Barber everyone is a teacher of Numeracy! If you are interested in this exciting opportunity to lead practice in this area, this could be the job for you!
Staff at Francis Barber are committed to creating a reflective and considerate community where pupils can learn in a safe and secure environment. We value the individual strengths which pupils and staff can equally contribute to the development of positive and co-operative relationships. Within the school there is a strong, diverse staff team including mentors, keyworkers and clinical CAMHS practitioners and a social worker, who help our young people to manage their behaviour and emotions. Staff CPD has focused on embedding a whole school trauma informed approach and developing adaptive practice.
