Serco is recruiting for a Deputy Shift Supervisor. In this role, you will take on supervisory duties and oversee tasking for MT Ops drivers in the absence of the Shift Supervisor. You will support the effective delivery of business objectives and ensure all contractual obligations are met to a high standard.
Main Accountabilities

- Take on all supervisory duties for MT Ops drivers when the Shift Supervisor is absent.
- Support the MT Ops Manager with the daily running and coordination of MT operations.
- Ensure all transport requests are completed in line with JSP 800 Vol 5.
- Allocate and supervise MT staff within delegated authority.
- Monitor tasks staff attendance, conduct, and performance as required.
- Make sure drivers have the correct documentation, equipment, and information for each task.
- Follow procedures for reporting vehicle faults, defects, and breakdowns.
- Allocate trained and qualified personnel to suitable vehicles for each transport request.
- Brief drivers fully so they can complete tasks safely and effectively.
- Allocate resources efficiently to meet operational demands.
- Ensure full compliance with Operator’s Licence requirements, including continuous and effective control of the operating centre.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies relating to road transport and dangerous goods.
- Make drivers aware of their legal duties, insurance responsibilities, ADR requirements, and accident reporting obligations.
- Organise your area effectively to meet contractual and operational requirements.
- Ensure all staff are trained and competent for their roles.
- Promote and lead a strong safety first culture with zero compromise.
- Support cost effective vehicle scheduling while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Encourage continuous improvement and efficiency across the team.
- Use the Clarity fleet management system to support daily operations.
- Supervise your area to ensure accurate, efficient, and reliable service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with the Serco Management System, ISO standards, HASAW Act, and COSHH regulations.
- Report any safety, compliance, risk, or operational concerns to the MT Ops or Deputy MT Manager.
- Complete all required training and ensure your team does the same.
- Carry out any additional reasonable duties assigned by the MT Ops or Deputy Transport Manager.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Undertake driving duties when required.
