JOB TITLE: Senior Technical Application Specialist

SALARY: £70,929 - £78,810

LOCATION(S): Leeds, Halifax, Manchester or Edinburgh

HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Leeds, Halifax, Manchester or Edinburgh office.

About this opportunity

As a Workload Automation Specialist, you'll join our Observability & Data Transfer Lab within Operations & Service Enablement. We're the people who keep the Bank running smoothly behind the scenes - making sure critical systems are scheduled, automated, and ready to deliver for millions of customers every day.

We're in the middle of an exciting transformation: moving from traditional TWS scheduling to modern, containerised platforms on our Internal Developer Platform (IDP). While we innovate, we also safeguard our monolithic estate to keep services stable during this migration. It's a big challenge, and you'll be right at the heart of it.

Our culture? Collaborative, supportive, and curious. We share ideas openly, celebrate wins together, and invest in your growth. You'll have access to training, mentoring, and opportunities to work on cutting-edge projects that shape the future of automation. Career progression is real here - whether you want to deepen your technical expertise or move into leadership. Plus, we encourage volunteering and community initiatives because we believe in making a difference beyond the Bank.

Why Lloyds Banking Group

We're on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we're shaping finance for good. We're focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone. Including you!

What you'll need

  • Strong experience with workload automation tools (e.g., IBM Workload Automation or similar).

  • Hands-on knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes, GKE, or OpenShift).

  • Familiarity with Helm charts, YAML, and deploying applications in a cloud-native environment.

  • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps principles.

It would be great if you also had

  • Exposure to Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) such as Backstage.

  • Scripting skills in Python or Bash for automation.

  • Experience managing monolithic estates during migration to modern platforms.
