The OpportunityA rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to take on a leadership position within a friendly, forward-thinking small-animal practice currently entering an exciting new phase of growth and refurbishment.
This role is perfect for a confident, organised nurse ready to take ownership of nursing standards, shape clinical protocols, and guide a motivated team through a period of transformation. About the RoleAs Head Nurse, you’ll be a key figure in day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth delivery of clinical care and nurturing a positive, efficient workplace culture.
You’ll:

Oversee nursing standards, compliance, and day-to-day coordination

Lead and mentor a developing nursing team, helping them grow in confidence and capability

Support anaesthesia, surgical and inpatient care – typically 5–7 routine ops per day

Collaborate closely with the leadership team on workflow, scheduling, and clinic efficiency
-
Take initiative in non-clinical areas such as training, stock control, and client experience
-
Play a key part in increasing nurse utilisation and driving best-practice nursing delivery
The caseload is steady and routine — ideal for those who enjoy structure and quality over chaos. Occasional orthopaedic work provides variety but without emergency pressures
