Role Overview:
To provide essential support to the delivery of electoral services, ensuring that statutory duties are met and that election events run smoothly and professionally. The postholder will assist with maintaining accurate electoral registers, processing voter registrations, and responding to routine enquiries from the public, elected members, and external partners. They will support the preparation and distribution of materials for polling stations, postal voting, and the verification and count processes. The role involves regular data entry surrounding the monitoring of temporary staff for the election, checking information for accuracy, and following established procedures to ensure compliance with electoral law and internal quality standards. During election periods, the postholder will work as part of a busy team to meet strict deadlines and provide reliable administrative and logistical support. This role requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly, particularly during peak periods and on polling day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with processing voter registrations, maintaining accurate electoral records, and responding to general registration enquiries.
- Help prepare materials, equipment, and documentation required for polling stations, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
- Provide front-line support to members of the publicby phone, email, or in personanswering routine election-related queries and offering guidance.
Key Requirements:
- Analyse and interpret data and present it effectively to various audiences to inform decision-making.
- Communicate effectively and be confident to challenge when advising and supporting senior officers
- Excellent organisational skills to agree, develop and manage the provision of appropriate business intelligence; ensuring managers have access to appropriate and timely information about their service and Oldham.
