We are working on behalf of a charity who are looking for a Community Project Worker to come and work with them on a temporary basis. The organisation works with children and families, particularly within the Early Years sector. The role would start as soon as possible and would run through till March 2026.
The role would involve the following:
- Working within local communities within the north Birmingham area
- Working on a part-time basis, one day a week (7 hours per week)
- You will be working with and supporting fathers and male carers through a community-based programme
- You will be working with existing staff to deliver six fathers/ male carers and child activity days across the Yardley and Hodge Hill districts, three in each district, one per month
- Each event will be themed around child and parent development, with a focus on physical and emotional development, bonding, positive play in the home, and nutrition and wellbeing.
The organisation is looking for someone who has:
- Relevant Professional Qualification in relation to working with children, young people and families, e.g. Social Care, Youth or Community Work, Teaching, Psychology
- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of issues and challenges affecting families, including children at risk of coming into care, non-school attendance, worklessness, offending, emotional well-being and mental health, domestic abuse, impact of trauma
- Have experience of working in an engagement role with diverse community settings with statutory and third sector organisations
- Recent experience of working with organisations that support vulnerable children, young people, families or groups
- Understand information sharing, consent and confidentiality issues and risks
- Have experience of engaging with young people, families and organisation professionals through online communications and social media
