As you would expect from a large teaching Trust, we prize training doctors, nurses and other health professionals and we already work closely with local universities and King’s College, University of London. We now have the exciting new opportunity of working with Kent and Medway’s new Medical School, jointly provided by the University of Kent and Canterbury Christchurch University, which opened in September 2020.
We are looking for a keen and committed individual who will participate fully and become an integral part of the Gastroenterology team. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the management of inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology and contribute to the development of specialist services.
The post holder will provide appropriate care, diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients presenting with gastroenterological illnesses to our inpatient and outpatient areas and contribute towards the site-based GI bleed rota. The gastroenterology consultant teams (when covering the wards) on each acute site provide In-reach and referral services to ED/AMU and other wards. The teams are supported by junior doctors, physician associates and specialist nurses.
In addition to inpatient services, the post holder will perform a minimum of two OPD clinics and two general endoscopy lists per week; a session dedicated to a specialist interest could also be arranged for the appropriate candidate. The post holder may be expected to fulfil some of their clinical commitments on other sites in the Trust. Audit is key to measuring our success and developing our service and as part of the team you will be part of our audit programme.
