We have an exciting opportunity for someone with the right experience to join the MSEFT Patient safety Team. We are a small team with a real focus on the patient and staff experience.

As our Patient Safety Learning Officer, you will work as part of the Patient Safety Team to promote a positive learning environment where changes are established and embedded to improve patient safety, experience and outcomes.

You will foster an open learning culture that supports the organisation to effectively recognise, report and learn lessons from incidents, ensuring appropriate action is taken in response such that all regulatory requirements.

The role is required to work leading patient safety across all sites within the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust footprint, with a requirement to travel to different site locations and be present within the sites and clinical areas as required.

To provide a full and effective comprehensive range of administrative support which will enable Patient Safety Team to fulfil its function to a high quality standard.

The role requires knowledge of all aspects of incident management, expertise in use of the Trust’s risk management systems and the Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) platform.

To liaise with a multi-disciplinary team including clinicians, managers and other administrative staff in a professional manner and provide guidance to all levels of staff on Trust requirements for incident review.

To facilitate completion of tasks and support Divisional teams in meeting internal and national standards.

To support the maintenance of data captured within the Trust’s Risk Management (DCIQ) system and the LFPSE platform.

To co-ordinate agendas for Trust’s Executive and Director led incident review groups and to capture outcomes from discussions at the meetings.

To provide a professional approach when dealing with sensitive issues.

In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance ‘Understanding the new NHS’.
