Summary

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Revenues Collection team providing a proactive and forward-thinking in-house debt recovery service for the collection of unpaid council tax, business rates and parking fines on behalf of Maidstone Borough Council and a number of partner organisations.

The role of Mid Kent Enforcement Team Leader will involve being responsible for a team of Enforcement Assistants, so you will have experience of managing a small busy team for the day-to-day delivery of a service with an ability to lead and motivate others. You will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and an organised person who demonstrates excellent communication skills with an ability to work to tight timescales

Your main place of work will be at our Maidstone office however the council operates a hybrid working approach, with the ability to work from home; however, you will be required to occasionally work at other sites.

This position is on a full-time permanent contract, working 37 hours per week. You must be available to work Monday to Thursday 09:00–17:00 and Friday 09:00–16:30.

About You:
As a service which deals with challenging and vulnerable customers you will have excellent communication skills with the ability to pick up sensitivities within a conversation and be able to respond in a calm, professional but assertive manner when needed. There is a requirement to converse at ease with customers and providing advice in accurate spoken English is an essential element of the role.

This role requires a range of administrative, telephone and customer contact skills. You will need to demonstrate high level Excel skills as this role involves processing and recording of financial statistics. In addition, you will have an understanding of relevant legislation and experience of managing and motivating staff.

Experience in a debt recovery, council tax, business rates or parking environment is desirable but not essential. If experienced in the field, ideally you should also have passed the Taking Control of Goods level 2 exam.
