Summary

A well established civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a full time basis. The company delivers a diverse mix of projects including groundworks, infrastructure, marine, water, flood defence and sea defence works.

Quantity Surveyor Job Description:

The successful Quantity Surveyor will take ownership of commercial activities across the full project lifecycle, from initial costing through to final account. You will work closely with the Commercial Director and wider delivery team to ensure strong commercial performance, effective cost control and contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the commercial function from project initiation through completion


Provide commercial advice, planning and assurance to the Project Manager


Lead procurement and contract negotiations


Prepare and manage variations, valuations and payment applications


Maintain accurate cost tracking and commercial reporting


Manage subcontractor payments, assessments and final accounts


Ensure adherence to contractual and financial processes


Support the development of junior or commercial team members where needed


Identify opportunities to maximise project profitability


Quantity Surveyor Requirements:

Proven background in civil engineering or groundworks


Strong experience delivering full QS duties independently


Exposure to water, flood defence, sea defence or marine projects is highly desirable


Excellent understanding of NEC contracts and construction processes


Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail


Confident managing multiple projects and deadlines


Ability to work collaboratively with delivery, site and project teams
