Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role: Bedworth Heath Nursery School is a LA maintained nursery school, with over 100 children on roll. We have 2-3yr old & 3-4yr old nursery environments.

The Governors are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated early years apprentice to join our successful federation. You will be supported through this opportunity within paid employment to gain a Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant qualification. We are booking visits from Monday 15 - Tuesday 23 December.

The vacancy is for an apprentice role in our Daisy Nursery (2-3-year-old provision) alongside our nursery team. There will be allocated time to spend in our 3-4 year old Orchard Nursery. We pride ourselves in working in collaboration as a team and putting the child in the centre of ethos.

Working hours will be 37 hours, Monday – Friday (8.15-4pm, joining a planning & pedagogy meeting on Tuesdays until 4.45pm). Time with be allocated for your study within these hours.

Starting date will be 12 January (or as soon as post interview checks have been complete).

The vacancy is a temporary 2-year contract which will support you through your apprenticeship. Throughout this role, you will gain extensive knowledge and experience within the working environment which will set you up for a great career upon completion. This will hopefully lead to permanent employment within education sector.

Key Requirements: The moment your journey begins as an apprentice:

• You become an employed member of staff
• You will work towards gaining a full qualification
• You will receive full training, support and guidance

Your role will include:

• Working with children between the ages of 2-4 years, organising activities, being pro-active with help and care.
• Assisting and meeting the personal/emotional needs of individual children.
• Work (under supervision) providing all aspects of care/support to children, ensuring they take part with day-to-day learning and play activities.
• Ensure that the setting is safe, clean and well presented.
• Collaborate with colleagues ensuring the highest standards of work are carried out and are provided throughout your role in a positive manner.
• To contribute to a high-quality environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally.
• Attend team meetings and contribute relevant ideas.
• Be able to understand and implement the setting’s confidentiality policy.
• Contribute towards an effective and supportive team environment.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be passionate about supporting children’s learning
• Be motivated to learn about and support children with a range of special educational needs.
• Have an outgoing and motivated attitude.
• Be a committed, punctual and reliable individual.
• For 16-19 year old applicants an Early Years Educator Level 3 requirement to pass is a Level 2 Functional skills /Grade 4. Support can be given to pass functional skills level 2/Grade 4 if you do not hold this qualification in English and Maths.
• Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Early Years or have a wide range of experience in the sector to start a Level 3 qualification.
