A day in the life of a Murphy Design Manager
- Lead design matters on Trunk Mains portfolio of projects on AMP8 Thames Water Utility Limited framework.
- Produce design briefs for permanent (and temporary) works, defining the design scope
- Lead technical reviews of submissions from our design partners
- Ensure conformance to the Murphy Design Management procedure
- Manage day to day interface between design and construction teams and maintain its adequate records
- Review design progress according to programme and contractual requirements
- Lead constructability reviews
- Support Senior Design Managers, consultants and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver the design solutions to schedule and budget to a high standard of professional competence
- Management of design change to support best outcome for the project
- Support with management of risk and opportunity in design

- Significant experience in a design management role within the construction sector.
- Management skills – confident in managing staff, clients, design budgets and programmes
- Flexibility and willingness to travel
- Engineering Degree qualified
- Member of a recognised engineering institution. Incorporated Engineer or Chartered and or working towards membership
